About
Ushahidi is a non-profit technology company that builds open source platforms to help citizens, journalists, organizations, governments, and others collect, manage, visualize, and respond to crowdsourced data. Ushahidi's mission is to empower people everywhere with the tools they need to make their voices heard and effect change in their communities.
Ushahidi was founded in 2008 in the aftermath of the Kenyan elections, when violence broke out across the country. Ushahidi's platform was used to map the violence, and the company has since expanded its work to other countries and issues.
